I want to purchase this synth ( I own the MX49 right now) I wanted to know in the simple answer can you save a performance that your create with 4 voices in some user bank? or do you have to overwrite one of the ones already preset by Yamaha?

The Factory Performances are overwritten by your creations. They are technically speaking not "Preset". They are all user customizable.
If you really want the factory ones back you can restore them either by resetting your instrument or use the free VycroMX editor.
