I have my mx 49 connected to my tascam 16x08 through midi cables and im using cubase le 8 as my daw. i have yama mx 49 selected in device manager and yamaha mx 49us 16x08 midi on inspector output routing. But i have no sound. I dont think i could download the MX49/61 Voice list for cubase

Hi Elliott,
No sound travels via the MIDI cables. In order to hear the MX49, you must connect its L/R 1/4" jacks to a sound system. If I recall a Tascam 16x8 is some kind of mixer that is probably connected to your monitor speakers. You should connect the audio outputs of the MX49 to this mixer. The mixer will feed it to the speakers.

MIDI data travels back and forth (in complete silence) between the MX and the MIDI interface in your Tascam, and will be identified by the driver for the Tascam MIDI PORT.
