Any information out on the key width for the YC61? Does it have standard piano width keys or the thinner synth width keys like on the MX61?
The new YC61 has neither a piano action, nor does it have an action like the MX61.
Also, contrary to Internet conspiracies, there is no ‘standard piano key width’.
The YC61, being an organ focused stage keyboard, has a newly developed ‘waterfall’ key action... which quite different from a piano action or a synth action.
We highly recommend before drawing any conclusions about it, you wait until it arrives in stores later this year (Due out in May).
Just FYI - the YC61 has been played by scores of top professionals (already) and nothing but glowing reports!
Hey Bad Mister, thanks for the response. I know the action itself more resembles what an organ would feel like, but I am more concerned about the key width itself. I currently have a CP73, and I used to own and MX61. I know for sure that the MX61 has a thinner key width than the CP73. So I am just wondering if the YC61 key width would be closer to the CP73 or MX61.
Yamaha has a list with this information, but it hasn't been updated since 2015.
