I'm not sure if this forum is best for my question, but I'd like to know if there is a place where we can inquire as to what a good patch/performance for a specific song would be.
I know I've used this forum to help with programming and usage but never to see what others are doing about specific patches. As an example I'm looking for the accordion sound on John Mellencamp's Cherry Bomb.
Obviously a forum specific to Performances would be the best. Just thought I'd ask.
Thanks.
Once you've picked one that's reasonably close, Jason (the most regular commenter here) is VERY good at identifying simple and quick modifications to bring a synth sound closer to any traditional instrument sound.
If you can, pick the onboard accordion sound that's closest/happiest for you, write it in here along with an exact time code for an accordion riff in the song you're talking about to make listening and matching easier for anyone wanting try mod your chosen sound.
I'm not too particular for my own music when it comes to this. In terms of matching the sound. I sometimes get lost in the weeds of perfection spending "too much" time -- but mostly am OK with a different sound that's representative.
AccordionTrnsfrmer, Scene 5 with some delay added (custom - somewhere between short and long presets) is what I conjured up.
The notes I played weren't exact - but I used Gmaj 3rd inversion to Gsus2 (just dropped the leading tone B natural to an A natural) and played with that mostly (3 8th notes starting on the and of 1 for the 1st chord and 3 8th notes starting on the and of 3). The Gsus2 as spelled here is missing an E natural I also hear in there - but I'd probably leave that out myself.
This is my 10 minute shot at it.
EDIT: fixed Performance name.
BTW: AccordionTrnsfrmer may be expensive due to the Part utilization. It may not matter if you're not going to add a lot of Parts for cover other sounds.

Wow! Thank you guys for that info. Very helpful.
