I'm a Logic user and don't ever intend on using Cubase. I do plan to check out Montage Connect and would use it in Standalone mode. Must I install the Yamaha-Sternberg USB driver? The download page is not quite clear.

Yes. You must install the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver.
The fact that you are using Logic has nothing to do with this. The Yamaha Steinberg USB driver is what allows your computer to communicate with the Montage. It is a combination multiple port MIDI, and multiple port audio driver. The Montage Connect can be run either inside Logic as an AU plugin, or can be run as a standalone application. In either scenario you will need the Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver for your computer type and operating system. Currently, the MIDI functions are all that will be utilized by "Montage Connect"
