Might not be a Montage topic but it might be. I'll be watching to see. Do we have boots on the ground reporting back?

There's a video of yesterday's pre-show event where a group is interested in seeing if Yamaha has any synth related announcements. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTWJwV0dl7k

I would guess you could keep up with them to see what they post later today/this week.

... I wouldn't expect too much, BTW.

Current Yamaha Synthesizers: Montage Classic 7, Motif XF6, S90XS, MO6, EX5R

They didn't wait concerning the CK or YC update. Mostly the timing to get it to market as fast as possible. I got my CK today just to check it out. The ability to play three non-organ voices or even three organs at once is a lot different. I'm sure SSS and poly are greatly impacted but in a updated YC this would be a lot better. I listened on headphones but I will compare YC to CK directly voice for voice later. I did notice that when played through the onboard speakers that much of the effects, nuance and voice character was completely lost or suffered greatly. Might have been my imagination or a setting etc. We obviously know these aren't $1,000 speakers and proper power typically required to replicate near perfect sound character and nuance. My headphones alone cost 4 times as much as the CK.

They released the new CVP which nobody can afford and it's not portable. P-S500. Only the CK listed under synths which it's not one.

I've already started my walk of shame πŸ˜€

I blame Yamaha for making some of my past predictions come true. I was setup to fail this time around! :p

Do they typically announce all products prior to the show being over on Saturday? I don't recall but if they had a big presentation I assume it'd have already been seen and leaked by now.

Usually announcements (or leaks through website announces, videos, etc) are less last minute.

Montage EX isn't ready yet but Fantom offers a lot of resistance to compete with.

I think it's a matter of which division is responsible for it. The CK is handled by the synth division, along with other boards which may or may not be synths depending on how you broadly you define the word... like the MX, and the four Refaces even though only two are "synths" in the traditional sense.

I think the CK is their β€œbig exciting reveal” this year. I watched Blake on a Sonicstate Namm video yesterday and when Nick asked if the CK did a certain thing, the reply was β€œno it doesn’t, we have the MODX for that” or something similar. No mention of the Montage!
