Hi all ,

What are the options for managing scene with one pedal.
Example A is it possible to switch back and forth between scene 1 and 2 only.
Example B Is it possible to switch between scenes 1,2,3,4 only.

Is there a way to manage it with a single pedal? I have an exp pedal on my footcontroller 2 and it manages the superknob. I also have a sustain pedal.

The other thread gives you the info about what has to be done to change scenes

Default is CC92 is set to do SCENE change as follows:
CC92 value 0-15 = Scene 1
CC92 value 16-31 = Scene 2
CC92 value 32-47 = Scene 3
CC92 value 48-63 = Scene 4
CC92 value 64-79 = Scene 5
CC92 value 80-95 = Scene 6
CC92 value 96-111 = Scene 7
CC92 value 112-128 = Scene 8

You have to send CC92 with the value set (as shown above) to select the scene you want.

An expression pedal can't do that since as soon as you move the pedal it sends a different value.

Example A is it possible to switch back and forth between scene 1 and 2 only.

Assuming your foot can move the pedal from < 1/8 travel to between 1/8 and 1/4 travel it is
'technically' possible to restrict the value sent to 0-15 or 16-31.

But practically speaking it isn't doable.

Example B Is it possible to switch between scenes 1,2,3,4 only.

No - there is no way to get from scene 4 (value 48-63) to scene 1 or 2 without the pedal moving through the range 32-47 which is scene 3.

FUN FACTS - Yamaha has made similar functionality available on their Electone ELS-02C.

See page 96 of the Owner Manual
https://asia-latinamerica-mea.yamaha.com/files/download/other_assets/8/803278/els02_en_om_d0.pdf

The 'Registrations' described there essentially 'scenes on steroids' - there are more of them, they can do more things and you can program them in a sequence.

Selecting Registrations
Select a Bank, then press the numbered button that
corresponds to the Registration you wish to select.
• You can also recall Registrations by using the right
footswitch. This function is called “Registration Shift”
(page 99).
• You can also program the Registrations to change
automatically at specific points within the Rhythm
Sequence. This function is called “Registration
Sequence” (page 174)

Here is a talented player of the Electone. She periodically uses a footswitch movement to change the registration/scene

Sounds like a job for the 'Pattern Chain' functionality.

It allows you to automatically change scenes at particular measures. You create a pattern
for each scene and then specify the order in which you want the patterns/scenes to play.

See this article. https://yamahasynth.com/learn/montage/mastering-montage-modx-pattern-sequencer-features-in-os-v3

Page 18 of the Supplementary doc has a graphic that shows how you specify each scene and measure and the order you want to use.

I may be too presumptuous here; however based on the thread link that BM provided, it sounds like switching Scenes is possible, but only in this order 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8

If you want to switch between 1 and 2 only, what if you copy Scene 1 to 3, 5 & 7, then copy Scene 2 to 4, 6 & 8, and just switch through all the Scenes 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8, which is essentially the same as 1-2-1-2-1-2-1-2 !?

Example B Is it possible to switch between scenes 1,2,3,4 only.

Same deal, maybe just copy Scene 1 to 5, Scene 2 to 6, Scene 3 to 7 and Scene 4 to 8, and switch through all the Scenes 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8, which would essentially be the same as 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4 !?

I'm not sure what part of the thread you refer to.

The Scene CC (control change) number defaults to 92. You can change it on the Utility -> Settings -> MIDI I/O screen

You also send a VALUE with the CC and the value you send determines the associated scene as shown in the table I posted above which is also in the thread link.

CC92 value 64-79 = Scene 5

This means if the value you send in the CC92 command is from 64-79 inclusive then scene 5 will be selected.

The MFC10 foot controller has 12 button switches and a pedal on it. You can see a picture of it if you take the link provided in that other thread.

You would program each button to send a CC92 and a value in the range for the scene you want that button to represent.

Then to change scenes you press the correct 'button' with your foot.

You can press the buttons in any order you want.
